AM/NS India, also known as ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India, is a joint venture between two of the world’s leading steel companies, ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel. The company was established in December 2019 following the acquisition of Essar Steel. It operates as an integrated flat steel producer and is recognized as the largest steel company in western India​1​.

AM/NS India boasts a significant production capacity, with its annualized crude steel production reaching approximately 7.5 million tonnes. In addition, the company has iron ore pellet facilities located in the east of India, with a current annual capacity of 14 million tonnes per annum. As part of its growth strategy, AM/NS India is focusing on expanding the capacity of its Hazira plant, aiming to increase it to around 15 million tonnes by early 2026 in the first phase of its expansion plans​2​​3​.

The company’s operations span a range of industries, including iron and steel mills, ferroalloy manufacturing, and primary metal manufacturing. AM/NS India produces various steel products such as hot-rolled sheets or strips, cold-rolled sheets or strips, hot-rolled coils, and welded pipes. These products cater to a variety of industries, including the automotive and utility sectors​4​​5​.
