The European Steel Association (EUROFER) is based in Brussels and has been advocating for the steel industry in Europe since 1972. It represents all steel production within the EU, with its members comprising steel companies and national steel federations. Besides, EUROFER also has associate members from Turkey and the UK.
The association, led by a Director General and about twenty staff, plays a pivotal role in the European economy, contributing €130 billion annually. With 500 production sites across 22 EU Member States, it generates 152 million tonnes of steel each year, employing 306,000 individuals directly and creating up to 2.27 million indirect jobs1.
