New Delhi: Nickel prices on Wednesday gained 0.73 per cent to Rs 885.10 per kg in futures trade as speculators built positions on rising demand from alloy-makers in spot market.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel contracts for April delivery gained Rs 6.40, or 0.73 per cent, to Rs 885.10 per kg in a business turnover of 1,099 lots.

Similarly, the metal for May delivery traded higher by Rs 3.80, or 0.45 per cent, at Rs 881.20 per kg in a business turnover of 30 lots.

Rising demand in the spot market from alloy-makers mainly supported price rise in nickel futures, analysts said.

Copper
Copper futures on Wednesday fell 1.03 per cent to Rs 387.95 per kg as speculators reduced their exposure due to weak spot demand.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper contracts for April delivery traded lower by Rs 4.05, or 1.03 per cent, to Rs 387.95 per kg in a business turnover of 3,137 lots

Similarly, copper contracts for the May delivery fell Rs 3.85, or 0.98 per cent, to Rs 390.70 per kg in a business turnover of 128 lots.

Traders attributed the fall in copper prices mainly to the subdued demand in spot market.

Aluminium
Aluminium prices on Wednesday fell by 75 paise to Rs 132.80 per kg in futures market as participants trimmed their positions amid a weak trend in spot market.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, aluminium for delivery in April declined by 75 paise, or 0.56 per cent, to Rs 132.80 per kg in 4,432 lots.

Analysts said cutting down of positions by participants on easing demand from consuming industries in the physical market mainly kept aluminium prices lower here.
