RPMGlobal and Modular Mining have extended their partnership agreement with a collaboration that will see the delivery of a new industry standard application programme interface (API).

The newly released API is a critical part of the collaboration solution which allows information to automatically flow between systems. The new industry standard allows applications and systems to communicate using a language that is universally understandable.

The mining solution companies first formed a strategic alliance in April, 2016 with the vision of delivering an integrated solution that would close the gap between mine production planning and operations to boost mine productivity.

RPMGlobal Chief Technology Officer Paul Beesley said the creation of this latest API had been in the works for some time and was a key part of its enterprise-focused strategy.

“This API formalises a substantial amount of the integration work that has been completed since the original partnership was signed and made available in 2016,” he said.

“Importantly, this API will support business process improvements for cost-focused miners where a small productivity improvement can translate to considerable bottom line improvements.

“In this instance, we are using enhanced collaboration to connect our XECUTE solution with Modular’s ProVision High-Precision Machine Guidance system.

“The short-term plan, including the dig polygons, is published from XECUTE to ProVision. Then equipment status and bucket positions are sent back to the planning tool to ensure the plan is being executed. Those bucket positions can then also be used to automatically update the face positions and the schedule.”

XECUTE is RPMGlobal’s short-term scheduling solution that enables miners to maximise value by using intelligent integration to connect planning with other departments within a mining operation.

XECUTE’s architecture means that real-time data is made available through any connected source. By enabling users to have a better understanding of the economic value produced from a commodity, miners are better placed to make decisions about crucial impacts that are generally outside their control.

RPMGlobal CEO Richard Mathews said it was pleasing to see the partnership continue to grow and evolve in a way that provided mining customers with a new level of improved efficiency and value to their operations.

“Modular Mining has been an important strategic partner since officially forming an alliance four years ago. Our vision to bridge the gap between planning and operations is bearing fruit and this latest API release underscores the value of the collaboration,” he said.
