SHANGHAI, Jun 16 (SMM) – Qingdao Pohang Stainless Steel plans to begin maintenance at the end of this month, SMM learned.

The maintenance is expected to last for a week, taking about 5,000 mt of output offline, and production of 400-series will be mostly affected.

The mill is located in east China’s Shandong province, and is owned by South Korean steel-making company POSCO.

A fire broke out at POSCO’s another steel mill in Pohang, North Gyeongsang Province of South Korea, on Saturday, which did not cause any casualties, according to the report.

POSCO said there were no disruptions to its production as the line was already under maintenance.
