The Turkish trade minister has asked countries to collaborate widely against steel measures and precautionary policies that disturb the normal flow of trade.
Speaking to the Global meeting on Steel Excess Capacity Ministerial gathering via videoconference, Ruhsar Pekcan stated: “Unfortunately, in recent years, we observe that some major steel producer countries and country groups implement measures that disrupt the normal flow of trade and cause barriers to imports”.
“In this regard, we should cooperate more comprehensively against these unfair measures and focus our attention on the main root cause of the problem.”
Highlighting that coronavirus put a danger of increasing protectionist tendencies, Pekcan proposed that steel sector strategies should be driven by market forces.
