The People’s Republic of China’s Nanjing Yunhai Special Metals is responding to meet increasing domestic demand for aluminium alloy air-conditioning flat tube by boosting its production capacity by 5 thousand metric tons per annum.

At present the Jiangsu plant boasts a production capacity of 15 thousand metric tons per annum, but it is in the process of increasing it to 20 thousand metric tons per annum by year’s end.

With a one-fifth share of the aluminium alloy air-conditioning flat tube market, Yunhai pocketed US$36 million last year, up by 9 percent over 2018. Aluminium alloy air-conditioning flat tube makes up about 5 percent of the company’s total business.

According to industry data, the Middle Kingdom’s overall production of aluminium alloy air-conditioning flat tube increased by 22.5 percent last year to 2.33 million units. Sales grew as well, increasing by 11.6 percent last year to a total of 2.3 million units.

Aside from aluminium alloy air-conditioning flat tube, Yunhai has a nameplate capacity of 180 thousand metric tons per annum of magnesium alloy across three plants. Its biggest plant is in Chaohu, with a production capacity of 100 thousand metric tons per annum, followed by Wutai with 50 thousand metric tons per annum and Huizhou with 30 thousand metric tons per annum.

The company has a steady supply of magnesium metal feedstock, totaling 100 thousand metric tons per annum split between its plants in Wutai and Chaohu.
